The AI, Media & Democracy Lab is currently hiring a postdoc to work on projects surrounding trustworthy human-AI interaction in media contexts. As AI-generated content becomes more widespread, there is an increasing concern about the spread of manipulated information. The role is centered on improving transparency in AI system disclosures, in line with the European AI Act Proposition on transparency obligations for certain AI systems.

The postdoctoral researcher will investigate how trust in AI can be built by designing better user interfaces and studying human-AI interactions on various levels, such as cognitive and behavioral. The initial focus will be on how media consumers perceive AI-generated content, eventually expanding to the media organizations themselves and how generative AI is used in content production.

This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with media organizations, policy makers, and researchers to create more transparent and accountable AI systems. It will be based at the national research institute for mathematics and computer science (CWI), and the researcher will be embedded within the AI, Media & Democracy Lab.
