Amsterdam-based Source.ag has raised 17.5 million dollars to expand its AI platform for greenhouse agriculture. The funding brings total investment to more than 60 million dollars and highlights Amsterdam’s growing role in sustainable food innovation.
Source.ag builds AI software for Controlled Environment Agriculture, where sensors, automation and data insights support efficient food production. The platform enables growers to predict yields, optimise irrigation and improve crop quality. It is now used in more than 300 greenhouses across eighteen countries, covering 2500 hectares and contributing to the daily supply of fresh produce for millions of people.
The Series B round was led by Astanor Ventures with strategic support from Enza Zaden and grower cooperative Harvest House. The investment comes at a time when the demand for fresh food is rising while the sector faces a shortage of experienced growers. By digitising cultivation expertise and operating as an AI assistant for growers, Source.ag aims to help the industry scale sustainably.
The funding also reflects how Amsterdam is developing into a hub for agtech innovation. Companies across the region are advancing new approaches to sustainable food production, from automated vertical farms to sensor-based irrigation technologies. Together, they show how Amsterdam’s ecosystem is shaping the future of responsible food production.
