Amsterdam-based Datamonk has raised 1.6 million euros in pre-seed funding to expand its AI platform designed to migrate and clean decades of medical imaging data. The technology enables hospitals to modernise their systems faster and prepare data for clinical use, research and AI applications.
Hospitals store decades of X-rays, CT scans and MRIs in legacy PACS systems, making migration to modern environments complex and expensive. Datamonk addresses this challenge with agentic AI that automates key steps in the process. Its software detects metadata issues, standardises study naming and validates data quality during transfer. This approach allows hospitals to go live five to ten times faster while improving the consistency and usability of their imaging data.
The pre-seed round was led by Healthy.Capital and Nina Capital, joined by angel investors including Jeroen Tas and Harm-Jan Wessels. The funding supports platform development, enhanced AI capabilities and team expansion. CEO and co-founder Jaap Gielink emphasises that clean and connected data is essential for modern healthcare, enabling reliable clinical workflows and future AI adoption.
By targeting one of healthcare IT’s most demanding challenges, Datamonk contributes to a stronger digital foundation for hospitals. Its combination of healthcare data expertise, cloud technology and AI reflects Amsterdam’s growing role in European healthtech and supports the transition to more interoperable and efficient care systems.
