Amsterdam AI congratulates Professor Vanessa Evers, Director of the Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica (CWI), on her appointment as Chief Science Advisor (CSA) at the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW).
In this new role, she will provide strategic advice to the ministry’s leadership on policy matters, drawing on scientific knowledge and insights.
Focus on AI and digital technologies
The first CSA will serve a one-year term, with a focus on artificial intelligence (AI) and related digital technologies. These topics align closely with the research expertise of Professor Evers, an internationally recognized scientist working in the fields of human interaction with intelligent systems, robotics, and autonomous technologies. Her research explores how technological innovations can enhance people’s lives.
“In the Netherlands, we have deep knowledge across many disciplines about artificial intelligence and its impact on society. It is remarkable that we can therefore approach the transformation of education, culture, and media in such a multidisciplinary way,”
says Professor Vanessa Evers.
“I am truly honoured to serve as Chief Science Advisor and to help build a bridge between policy, science, and society.”
Vanessa combines her new role at OCW with her positions as Director of CWI and Professor at the University of Twente.
Amsterdam AI is proud of this appointment and looks forward to continuing to work with Professor Evers in advancing responsible, human-centred AI that contributes to a strong and inclusive society.
