Two HvA AI Projects Receive RAAK Public Grant

Grant for research projects on practically applicable AI solutions.

Converting government information into understandable language with AI and AI as a monitoring tool for knee injuries in women’s football. These two projects, part of the Responsible IT professorship and the Smart Health and Vitality Lab of the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, have been awarded a RAAK public subsidy. Directing body SIA honored a total of 17 research questions.

The project ‘Clear LANGUAGE: Texts from Civil Servants with AI more Readable’ supports the government in the responsible use of AI. Government information, such as texts on websites and in letters, is difficult to understand for a large group. Language models such as ChatGPT can provide a solution here by automatically rewriting and simplifying these types of texts. In collaboration with Utrecht University of Applied Sciences and Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, the Responsible IT with Clear Language research group is developing criteria that AI must meet so that it can be used responsibly. In addition, it determines the extent to which an AI solution meets these criteria.
