Prosus officially opened AI House Amsterdam on 13 November. Located on the Zuidas at Gustav Mahlerplein, the centre is designed to strengthen the Dutch and European AI ecosystem by facilitating collaboration, experimentation and community building.
AI House Amsterdam has been created as an open and adaptable innovation environment where researchers, entrepreneurs, policymakers and companies work together on new AI applications. Prosus considers the centre a strategic investment in Europe’s technological position and aims to accelerate the development of practical and responsible AI solutions.
Speakers at the opening included Prosus CEO Fabricio Bloisi, JetBrains CEO Kirill Skrygan, Contextual AI CEO Douwe Kiela and Michiel Boots, Director-General for Economy and Digitalisation at the Ministry of Economic Affairs. They highlighted the need for Europe to strengthen its technological base and invest in talent and infrastructure to remain competitive.
Prosus invests more than 100 million dollars annually in AI, with an increasing share directed toward Europe. The company employs more than 750 AI specialists worldwide and selected Amsterdam as a central hub due to the strong talent concentration. According to Prosus research, the Netherlands accounts for 8 percent of all European AI talent while representing only 2.4 percent of the EU population. Around 37 percent of this talent is based in Amsterdam, placing the city among the top five AI centres in Europe.
AI House focuses on experimentation, rapid learning and cross-sector collaboration. The location will host hackathons, research initiatives, community meetups and large-scale events such as the AI Marketplace. Prosus aims to create a practical environment where organisations can explore emerging AI techniques and understand how the technology can support their operations.
The initiative aligns with broader national and European ambitions for digital autonomy. Programmes such as the AI Delta Plan emphasise the need for strong physical hubs that connect research, entrepreneurship and public institutions. AI House reinforces the existing Amsterdam ecosystem by adding a venue for experimentation and collaboration.
Prosus sees the Amsterdam launch as the first step toward a potential network of AI Houses in cities including London, São Paulo and Bengaluru. The goal is to accelerate knowledge exchange and strengthen Europe’s standing as a region capable of designing and developing advanced AI technologies.
