D66 Amsterdam has presented an ambition to embed AI literacy broadly across the city, backed by a concrete target for 2030.
D66 Amsterdam wants at least 100,000 residents to be AI-literate by 2030. According to the party, this goes beyond being able to operate a chatbot: it also includes understanding the possibilities and limitations of AI, using it safely, recognizing errors, and handling personal data responsibly.
Parliamentary leader Rob Hofland: “We want all Amsterdammers to get the chance to take part in this.”
To reach different groups, D66 is focusing on schools and universities of applied sciences for young people, employers for workers, business organizations for entrepreneurs, and libraries and community centers for older residents and those less digitally skilled. The party is calling on the city council to work on this ambition together with universities, companies, and civil society organizations, so that Amsterdam further positions itself as a responsible tech region.
