Can artificial intelligence assist us in staining cancer tissue samples?

Last week, researcher Sara Pires de Oliveira received funding from the Dutch Research Council NWO (Dutch Research Council) to explore this concept.

Immunostaining of tissue is needed for a detailed diagnosis, but it is also time-consuming and costly. What if we could stain tissue virtually? Sara will be exploring the feasibility and efficacy of AI-models for exactly this task, aiming to facilitate an efficient use of resources but also enhance diagnosis speed and accuracy.
