The transition to renewable energy sources has major implications for the electricity grid. Greater fluctuations occur on the supply side, including fluctuations in solar and wind energy. Moreover, the supply becomes less dependent on a few large energy suppliers and more decentralised. CWI is developing smart ‘agents’ that automatically negotiate energy.
