HvA quantum computing research group contributes to workshop series for bachelor students

Society

The Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (HvA) is participating in a six-week workshop series on quantum computing aimed at bachelor students. The Special Research Group Applied Quantum Computing is contributing to the content and guidance of the programme, which introduces students to the fundamentals of quantum technology and its practical applications.

The Introduction to Quantum Computing Workshop, now in its second edition, combines foundational theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience. Students are guided through topics including qubits, linear algebra, quantum logic, and applications such as quantum encryption. A key component of the workshop series is its practical element: participants work with Qiskit and run their own quantum circuits on real quantum computers, making abstract concepts directly tangible.

The workshop is the result of a collaboration between several universities of applied sciences and universities, including the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, De Haagse Hogeschool, Fontys, and Saxion. Researchers from the HvA’s Applied Quantum Technology research group contribute to the content and supervision of the programme. Through this collaboration, knowledge of quantum technology is made more accessible to students from a range of institutions.

With this contribution, the Special Research Group Applied Quantum Computing highlights the importance of practice-oriented education and research in the field of quantum technology. By introducing students to this discipline at an early stage, the research group supports the development of a new generation of professionals prepared for a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
