In Spring 2025, the Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica (CWI) will host a research programme themed “Control Theory and Reinforcement Learning: Connections and Challenges.” The programme brings together researchers and students to explore the intersections and challenges of these two fields.
Control theory and reinforcement learning share a common goal: enabling autonomous, real-time decision-making to optimize dynamic processes. Historically distinct, these fields are now converging thanks to recent advances, fostering collaborations across disciplines.
CWI’s 2025 research semester programme includes a Spring School and several workshops, led by experts such as Aditya Gilra, Bert Kappen, Debabrota Basu, Frans Oliehoek, Maryam Kamgarpour, and Sean Meyn.
