AI is increasingly becoming part of decision-making in healthcare. But technological progress should not leave patients on the sidelines. Join the conversation with researchers, healthcare professionals, civil society organisations and policymakers about how we can use AI responsibly, for everyone.
On 6 October, Zorg2040 will take place as part of the academic conference Governing Algorithms for Care, organised by the University of Amsterdam at Felix Meritis. Participation in our event is free of charge. You can also attend the full conference (for a fee).
As medical AI moves from experimentation to routine use, the first practical challenges around compliance, governance and impact are becoming apparent.
At the same time, the public and professional debate is shifting from the initial hype towards a more critical reflection on reliability, feasibility and societal value. The Zorg2040 event builds on this development and centres around one key question: how do we ensure that everyone remains visible, heard and supported in a healthcare system in which AI is playing an increasingly important role?
Doors open at 12:30 PM, and the programme starts at 1:00 PM.
These changemakers will share their knowledge and insights. They will also engage in discussion with one another and with participants in the audience.
Prof. Julia van Weert, Professor of Health Communication and co-founder of the AI Health Equity Lab (University of Amsterdam), will demonstrate what digital inequality looks like and what role data plays in this.
Maarten Dirksen (Basic Orange) is an entrepreneur. He will talk about his GDPR tool, which helps provide privacy for AI users in healthcare.
Nikki van de Veerdonk (Pharos), project lead for digital innovation & AI, will explain how AI can contribute to equal opportunities in health and healthcare, as well as the risks of widening health inequalities and digital exclusion.
As a Zorg2040 participant, you will have free access to our session. After the session, you are also welcome to attend the conference’s closing drinks. Would you like to attend the rest of the Governing Algorithms for Care conference? (Buy your tickets via this link)
