Queen Maxima Visits the Applied Artificial Intelligence Center

Her Majesty Queen Máxima will pay a working visit to the Applied Artificial Intelligence Expertise Center of the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences on Thursday morning, October 5. The visit focuses on the responsible use and application of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The increase in the use of artificial intelligence brings dilemmas and ethical questions for society as a whole. Within the Center of Expertise Applied Artificial Intelligence, education, research, business and social organizations work closely together in seven labs on its responsible application. Queen Máxima visits one of the labs, the Smart Asset Management Lab. There she speaks with researchers and recent graduates about the added value of this collaboration. She is shown various installations, such as an ultra-sensitive refrigerator for storing medicines that can repair itself with the help of AI.

Social impact
The working visit will also discuss collaborations around AI Media & Democracy and Responsible Applied AI, which focus on issues about dialogue with the user and ownership of AI technology. Queen Máxima will discuss the social impact of current and future applications with AUAS researchers and partners from the social field, such as the significance of artificial intelligence for the future of work and broad prosperity. The opportunities and risks for the Netherlands and the policy required in connection with the European and global view of the application of AI are also discussed.
