An empowering collaboration: Netherlands AI Coalition (NL AIC) partners with Women in AI

Women in AI recently conducted an insightful interview with Miriam Veronesi, shedding light on the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the collaborative efforts between the Netherlands AI Coalition (NL AIC) and Women in AI. As Chair of Start-ups and Scale-ups for the NL AIC and a prominent figure at TNO, where she focuses on the societal, economic, and ethical aspects of AI, Miriam has been at the forefront of tech innovation for years.
With a robust IT background, including a stint as CEO of a pioneering software development agency specializing in innovative AI solutions for customer service as early as 2016, Miriam brings a wealth of experience to her current role. Her journey reflects a lifelong commitment to leveraging technology for positive change.

Driving AI Innovation Through Collaboration
At the NL AIC, Miriam leads initiatives across various domains and working groups, facilitating connections, organizing matchmaking events, and fostering collaboration within the AI ecosystem. "We strive to unite our community, ensuring that the right people are present where it matters most," she notes. From engaging with innovative startups to navigating complex regulatory landscapes, the NL AIC acts as a catalyst for AI-driven innovation, connecting European AI startups with suitable investors. "We aim to avoid reinventing the wheel," she adds.

In addition to informing startups about relevant events and actively involving them in panels and presentations, the group frequently organizes topic-specific events tailored to startups' interests. "For instance, discussions on the AI Act, which significantly impacts every AI startup, are crucial for compliance," Miriam explains. Such initiatives provide startups with invaluable insights and tools to navigate the evolving regulatory landscape.

The Impact of AI as a System Technology
Reflecting on AI's transformative potential, Miriam draws parallels with the advent of the World Wide Web, highlighting the far-reaching implications of disruptive technologies. "AI represents a significant shift with effects across all segments of society," she emphasizes.
