Amsterdam UMC launches HeartGuard

Developed by Cardiology Centres Netherlands (CCN) in 2016 and in collaboration with Amsterdam UMC, HartWacht has already shown promising results in managing over 3,000 patients. The use of this e-health program has led to a decrease in emergency calls and visits, highlighting its effectiveness in remote patient monitoring.

This program is especially beneficial for patients with high blood pressure, heart arrhythmias, or heart failure, offering them a more convenient and less intrusive healthcare experience. Cardiologists at Amsterdam UMC, like Michiel Winter and Jasper Selder, praise the app for enabling smarter work by filtering out non-critical health data, allowing them to concentrate on patients requiring immediate attention.

The introduction of HartWacht at Amsterdam UMC marks the hospital as the first academic institution to implement such a comprehensive remote monitoring program, with plans to expand its e-health program to include diabetes and cardiovascular risk management.
