What to Expect

The evening begins with a warm welcome from Frank Kresin, setting the stage for our keynote speaker, Professor Sandjai Bhulai. As a leading expert in Business Analytics at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Prof. Bhulai will delve into the fascinating world of “Controversy Detection with AI: From Identification to Intervention” exploring how AI can navigate contentious topics and provide actionable insights.

Following the keynote, we shift gears to a panel discussion on AI and Sustainability, featuring:

1. Stevan Rudinac(Associate Professor, University of Amsterdam): Specializing in multimedia analytics, Stevan examines how AI can address societal challenges like security and liveability.

2. Patricia Lago (Professor, VU Amsterdam): As director of the Digital Sustainability Center, Patricia’s work highlights the intersection of software engineering, green IT, and sustainable digital transformation.

3. Jurjen Helmus (Professor, Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences): Known for his work on industrial digital twins and AI-driven solutions for electric vehicle infrastructure.

The panel will provide their perspective on how AI can foster a more sustainable future.

Celebrating Innovation: The Amsterdam AI Thesis Awards

After the panel, we’ll spotlight emerging talent with the Amsterdam AI Thesis Awards, presented by Jieying Chen and Ana Oprescu. Our award winners as will pitch their theses, offering insights into the next generation of AI.

The evening concludes on a high note with a reception on the main floor of the NU Building. Enjoy a glass of bubbly, mingle with fellow attendees, and explore around 14 poster presentations.
